New 150hp Honda will not start but tries

Sorry, I see that you checked the neutral switch. The starter magnetic switch clicking indicates it's getting voltage but is it enough? I mean, high resistance in that "trigger wire" would keep it from fully firing the solenoid. Good luck.

New 150hp Honda will not start but tries

Hi, I don't have a wiring diagram for this one but just a quick thought is that this might be something going on with the neutral start switch or the wiring for it. Good luck.

Honda BF20- no compression in 1 cylinder

Hi Cyangelo, Welcome to the forum. Have you checked valve clearances? If they've never been adjusted it's time to have a look. While you're doing that, a valve problem would likely reveal itself pretty quickly. Did you double check the timing? The belt can jump a tooth when being installed...

Sorry, that should have read British Standard Pipe (BSP) to NPT adapter.

    BF40A-ONGOING OVERHEAT ISSUES

I can't answer the warning system question but you can check the oil pressure by removing the oil sender and temporarily attaching a pressure gauge in that port. I think you will probably need a British.Pipe Thread (BPT) to National Pipe Thread (NPT) adapter....available on Amazon.....to make...

    BF40A-ONGOING OVERHEAT ISSUES

Well NSDON thank you for the support. But I think siluetae137 is trying point out that putting it the way I did could confuse some people and I think he's (she's?) probably right. While it IS true that the tell tale bypass water circuit does nothing to enhance engine cooling in any way, it...

    BF40A-ONGOING OVERHEAT ISSUES

Hi, Welcome to the forum. Sorry you're having problems. I am no Honda 40 hp guru, just so's you know. You're probably not going to like what I have to say but you need help so I'll say it anyway. It does sound like she's still getting hot or what I.call "localized temperature spikes"...

    50 hp o/b won’t start

Well, if you're interested in getting the carb manual, you can find it here; https://publications.powerequipment.honda.com/marine Look under "support materials". I highly recommend having it rather than "winging it" on this adventure. Although, if you don't read it then..... Also, be...

    Honda BF8A No Spark

Ideas?.Oh yeah! I am full of ideas! As a matter of fact, a buddy just told me the other day "dude, you're full of it!". Anyway.... I don't know about that N switch being out of adjustment or just plain no good. I don't know either if, when in neutral, the switch should be open or closed...

    Honda BF8A No Spark

Has someone been working on this outboard? That's the first "simple" thing I want to know. As in, was something left unplugged or cross-wired? The fact that the neutral switch is so obviously out of adjustment makes me suspicious right off. I don't have any experience on that particular model...

    50 hp o/b won’t start

Hi Will, Welcome to the forum. What year is your outboard? Yes, I agree that cleaning the carbs is likely warranted. Especially if they had.ANY fuel left in them before the long term storage. Just be advised that these particular carburetors can be very difficult to properly and thoroughly...

    Honda BF8A No Spark

The wiring diagram indicates that the neutral switch is normally open. Try unplugging one side of the switch and re-test for spark.

1998 BF40 twins surging, rough idle and one carb flooding

Ok. Well, one of the vent covers does look like an expansion or "freeze plug" so it's definitely flooding. You need to figure out why that's happening before anything else. Remove and shake the float to see if it might be holding fluid. If so, it's done for. You can also use a postage type...

1998 BF40 twins surging, rough idle and one carb flooding

Hi, Could you elaborate about "seeing the #1 carb on starboard engine flooding"? Is fuel exiting the air vents at the top of the main body? Or, are you seeing it leaking out from someplace else? You are right about these being very finicky to get properly cleaned. They require specific...
