Honda 2.3 Exhaust Pipe (How to make quieter)

Anyone ever notice these 5 open holes on the exhaust pipe for the Honda 2.3 Engines? Was thinking about plugging them or wrapping that section of the pipe with exhaust wrap to maybe silence this motor a little bit... I heard the early model air cooled "2HP" versions never had these holes and were a little quieter.? Maybe this is where Honda gained their 0.3 Extra HP. LOL...

No, the 0.3 added hp comes from the N.A.S.A. designed,.made from space age composite FAN cover.

Just kidding....

Anyway, I wouldn't do it Mud1M1....
...might be bad ju-ju.

Never worked on one but I suspect that those holes are there to set up a sort of draft to pull in air to keep the pipe temperature down a bit.

Just a guess though.
