    Several options... Given this is a local to you designed boat, first see if matches any local made transmissions. otherwise.... Velvetdrive is one of the more popular manufacturers of inboard transmissions as is Borg Warner Is the manufacturer of your boat still in business??? IFSO, try them.

    BB70 is an engine designation. That engine was fitted with any number of transmissions if installed as an inboard, or with an Aquamatic series sterndrive... Picture please.

    The other possibility is that of rusted out or popped "freeze out" plug... ( actually used during manufacture to clear out the core casting sand). If rusted out, likely the only problem.... if popped out, you may have freeze damage. As I recall... (its been a long time) ... these are on...

    I just re read you post... WHICH drain plug... the hull drain or the drive's oil drain?. If the first, you got problems, if the hole near the oil drain, then just plug it and try again.

    When my Mercarb equipped engine has that problem, it is always hard deposits in the thin ( bottom) ends of the jets on the venturi block. These hard deposits don't come off in any cleaner I've tried and must be removed mechanically. A very thin wire, or better the correct sized numerically...

    Personally... I am of the opinion that paying someone to take old parts off of an old bad engine and install them in an "new" short block is foolish, The savings over a brand new all up crate engine are minimal and you get a real warranty. Many "mechanics" like this because they can sell...
