Could just be a faulty ground. You were just messing with the battery connections. You might try to check if either of the cables is corroded or if ther is a loose ground wire somewhere.
Agree with C Hawk. Did you change the low pressure fuel filter? I’m thinking if your hp filter was bad, and maintenance lacking, the lp filter is likely messed up too
