    It has something to do with putting it in reverse, the rod is not hooked to anything, I'm trying to find out what it is supposed to be attached to.

    I have a 1954 Evivrude, there is a rod that has something to do with the reverse is engaged, the rod has a spring on the end not attached to anything, I can't figure where it should be attached, it runs down the shaft. I hope someone can help me. Thank you

    I have a 1954 7.5 I have a rod that has a spring on the end, it looks as though.the rod has something to due when in reverse, the spring end is not attached to anything can't find where it goes, it runs down along the shaft. Could some one.help
