Cylinder head torque for a 95 Force 120

I found this on line in a PDF for 84-99 Force engines. The little 1 foot note on another page says to give it another 1/4 turn. https://documentcloud.adobe.com/link/review?uri=urn:aaid:scds:US:a92d54fb-290a-4646-b660-8427de7c3254 I’m not sure the link will work.

    95 force 120 head torque #2

This is addition to my previous post. After looking deeper into this, it looks like the head itself is different from the 94 to the 95. As far as I can see mine is a 95 and should be torqued to 120 ft. lbs. plus a 1/4 turn. Attached is a pic of the head. I would appreciate someone verifying that.

Cylinder head torque for a 95 Force 120

I have what I THINK is a 95 Force 120. The serial number tag is missing. Someone told me to look at the date on the starter which is “8 04 94”. When I look up the specs I see 120 ft. Lbs plus 1/4 turn and also 225 ft pounds. It seams to change around 95. I wouldn’t be so concerned but obviously...

Carb leaks when engine is tilted up

I have a 95 Force 120. When the engine is off and I tilt the engine up fuel comes out of the top carb. Is that because at a tilt the float is not stopping the flow? Is this normal?

    Water pump seal

I’m looking to find out if a seal is needed on the driveshaft just above the water pump housing. I’ve taken apart three different units and non of them had one, but looking on YouTube some have a seal there. I bought a rebuilding kit that came with gaskets, impeller, o rings, stainless plate and...

    Control cables

Thanks for the response. I have a side mount shifter that has MERC stamped into it. Shouldn’t I be able to use one of the cable sets that I already have? The 120 came with a wiring harness and I have already connect it from the plug on the engine to the boats ignition switch and other...

    Control cables

I have a 92 Bayliner capri that came with a Force 90 which has a bad cylinder wall. I bought a Force 120 from a Guy that had a 1995 boat. I got it running on an engine stand and now I’m trying to connect it to the boat. The 120 came with Black control cable that have different ends than what the...

95 Force 120 ignition switch wiring

I have a 95 Force 120 which I bought that came with a wiring harness. I found a diagram that shows the wiring for the wiring from the engine wiring harness plug to the different components. When I connected to the harness that came with the engine some of the wires change color. What I’m looking...

    Lower end case

Instead of taking the parts from a working lower end with a broken fin into the case that had a broken up dog clutch would it be better to use this lower end (see pic) that has broken section on the side fin. I’m new at this and maybe fin isn’t the correct term but you’ll see the picture.

    Lower end case

The dog clutch went on my lower end. The outside of the case looks good. The inside has some damage in the area of the drain plug. (See pic) I think it won’t effect anything but I’m looking for a second opinion. I have another complete unit that has outside damage but all inside gears are ok, so...

    Force 120 start up

I have a Force 120 model year 1995 and the complete wiring harness for it. I would like to start it up on an engine stand. What wires will I need to connect from the harness in addition to the positive and negative to the battery and a starter switch in order to start it up. I will have a water...

Can someone ID the year of this Force 120. The serial number is messed up.

Here’s a pic of the lower unit. I’ll look in the places that you suggested later today. Thanks again for your help.

    Run out of water

I have a Force 120 with a bad lower assembly which I have removed, obviously with the water pump. Can I run the engine for a short period without water and the lower assembly removed. If so, how long can I run it?

    Force 90 engine block

Newbie here. This is my first boat. I recently boat a 92 Bayliner that needs a new engine block. I see one for sale but I’m not sure if it’s correct. My block is stamped 818153C1, the one for sale is 818153A23. Should I just look at the 818153 or does the letter after make a difference? Thanks...
