Just bought a boat with this engine. Any links/leads to manuals/parts/anything about this engine is greatly appreciated. Can I use stock auto parts for this engine, say from NAPA?
I have a '71 LM 318. I just pulled it from a boat I have owned for 5 years. It ran when I bought it but not since. Is there a market for it? It is not going back into the boat. I have no use for it.
Tried posting on the BMW Marine Diesel forum but it is pretty much dead so I will try here. I just bought the engine but missing the riser after the turbo. Looked at replacements but the design is confusing to this "closed loop cooling" noobie. In the picture the flange end of the pipe bolts to...
Went and bought the engine in Houston but no riser/exhaust elbow. Can buy an OEM one from Germany for $1456 delivered. That probably will not happen. I can have a stainless steel one made for $200. Big question about design. The flange end of the riser bolts to the turbo. The raw water from the...
Have an opportunity to buy the engine. 165 HP. It is closed loop cooled. What is needed to complete the "loop"? Currently have a a 225 hp Chrysler Marine gasser hooked to a Volvo Penta outdrive, raw water cooled. Can a sterndrive be mated to this engine? I have no experience with closed loop...
Restoring the boat. Engine has never run, for me. Pulled the thermostat housing and not thermostat. Internet search found the cheapest at $96! I believe Marine parts.com. They told me the part number is 3675303k. Any one have a more reasonable source or idea?
Also, the color of the engine...
I am trying to determine the best prop for my boat. It is a "71 LM318 with a Volvo 250 or 270 sterndrive. Can anyone tell me the gear ratio? I have found a prop size calculator from Vic Prop in Canada and gear ratio is part of the calculation. I have a 200 manual and it says the ratio is 1.59:1...
'71 Chrysler LM 318. Wal Mart lists batteries from 500 CCA to 800 CCA for a '71 Dodge 318! I'll guess that 500 is the minimum and anything above that gives you more cranking time? Looking for the battery size others are using.
Don't want to pull the pump again. This looks exactly like mine. You know, the more vendor ads I see the more I believe them. I think I may have made a wrong assumption. I am going to hook it up the way the ad says and crank the engine.
Has a Hose Barbed Inlet and a Threaded Outlet
Fits...
Thanks shipmates! You are right about the potential bomb and no-no plastic filter, but as I said the picture is prior to carb rebuild, the way it came to me. Here is the way it looks after rebuild: But my main question remains: Which is the inlet and outlet on the fuel pump? I tend to think I...
