I pulled the heads, cleaned the surfaces and I am basically ready to reinstall them.
I see the torq spec is 30 ft-lb plus 90 degrees with lubed bolts.
Then I saw this posting saying to warm the engine then let it cool, then loosen and retorq.
Is this what people do? It is 22 degrees in my...
Nope. It is a blind hole (thermal well?). When I pull the heads (waiting for gaskets) I will see if I can drill into the water jacket through the side of the thermal well. In hindsight, the blind hole is obvious on the other head.
I want to add a water pressure gauge to a 2.5 litre 200 hp Merc.
It has been suggested that rubber hose between the two thermostats is the place to take the measurement from.
I am not convinced. It appears to me that when the engine is cold and the thermostats are closed, that there is no flow...
I wondered if it was the correct part as well, but it looks exactly like the one in the parts diagram.
Turns out the part was deformed. I corrected the bend and cut about 4mm off the hook end. It now works.

1991 Merc 2.5 litre 200 hp

Is there a known solution to this problem?
Modify the latch?

It looks like it is coming from the gasket.
Should I be concerned?
Should I pull the head?
What am I looking for?
1987 Yamaha 200 Hp 2 stroke.
Piston broke at the wrist pin then got pounded by the connecting rod.
Note the rust in the top part of the cylinder.
If you zoom in on the cylinder you can see that two of the transfer port passages are completely opened up, Both the steel sleave and the cast...
I am curious about the fuel recirculation pipes. How do they work? They are old (37 years). What affect would it have if they were cracked or leaking?
Motor is a 200 ETLH.
1989 200 ETLH. When I drained the carbs for the winter, the lower port side bowl had no fuel in it. The other 5 bowls had fuel in them. The motor ran fine last time out which was about a week ago. How can one bowl be empty?
