Curious what everyone is using. Mercury says 2-4-C, but ive seen videos where Superlube is used instead. Both are synthetic and waterproof, but Superlube is also Dielectric, so I could use it for many other things including my graph pins and sockets. Thoughts?
Good news everyone (in my best professor Farnsworth voice). I found the broken part. Had nothing to do with the lower unit or the shift shaft, although after running aground I had seals leaking so no wasted effort on my part. After a close examination of the linkage I found a connector...
Yes. It is getting returned today. Where can I obtain a factory manual? I haven't been able to locate one in a search. So there is no adjustment to the shift shaft?
Now I am confused. I've seen information that says that to adjust the shift shaft length you either rotate the shaft one way or the other. I fail to see how that changes the length with the shaft pined to the wedge. Any info on that? I bought the Big repair book and it has almost nothing on...
Thank you. Already have the prop shaft out. I suspect I damaged something when I ran aground. No forward or reverse. Shift shaft should be able to turn for adjustment to change to correct length, but it isn’t turning in the wedge.
Anyone know a good way to remove the retainer? I believe it is just pressed in, but almost impossible to get ahold of it. My first thought is to make a special clamp to put on the shift shaft, tap on the clamp and let the shift cam and washer knock it out. Any thoughts?
