    Electrical nightmare

Where are you purchasing your switches from? Are you measuring with something like a volt meter (that will read 12 volts easily without a load) or a test light with an incandescent bulb (that will draw some current)?

New ‘to you boat’ or have you had the boat for a while and it just started this? What tach? Correct setting?

Serial number? Look up the parts diagram of your engine and see what part you are referring to in the oil tank diagram

Crusader 350 w/ Velvet Transmission: Locked up after brief shutdown

I’m sure of your setup, but if it is like my 7.4s and in-line gears, I know I can pull the velvet drives out without pulling the engines on my boat. Disconnect shaft couplers and slide shaft towards the stern to see what kind of clearance you would have. If there is room, put a bottle jack under...

    1996 maxum 2400SCR. 5.7L V8 runs

Is there gas in it? Just because the gauge says so, does not necessarily mean there is, especially on a new to you boat

Bad compression test on 4 & 6 cylinders

Simply put, in order for an engine to run you need a process to happen repeatedly. In a 4 stroke engine without getting too complicated, in each cylinder you get suck, squeeze, bang, blow - coordinated with the other cylinders in the engine. Suck is where the gas and air mixture goes into the...

Bad compression test on 4 & 6 cylinders

Did you do a bad compression test on cylinders 4 and 6 and are just bragging about it? Did you get a bad report from someone doing a compression test on cylinders 4 and 6? Relative to what? What engine? An in-line 6 would be very different than a V8. How old/how many hours? What are the actual...

Need help if anyone has advice

Bite the bullet and pull the motor. There is a crack somewhere and only way you are finding it is a tear down. Especially if the season is short where you live, as long as the other motor that you found checks out, drop that in and then decide if you want to go through rebuilding yours
