Oil Leak at the base of the power head

Now I have propeller question. I have a 1974 Mercury 115 horse two stroke outboard that the prop worked fine at low throttle(trolling) but when I push to wide open throttle, the motor races like my prop is spun. When I have taken the prop off and examined, it looked like there was no damage. Do...

Oil Leak at the base of the power head

I have looked over the u tube tutorials and have not found anything specific. Just want to get some reference information before I go disassembling the stuff to get to the hose. Yep I am a needy person.

Forward and Reverse are backwards when shifting.

Well I finally got the boat out to a body of water which is now a rarity with water reserves depleting in Idaho. I have a forward and reverse but no throttle. I will take the control box apart to see if there is a disconnect. When I move the the lever the throttle cable does not move at all.

Trial and error of putting the shifter on the splines on the shift shaft until he found the correct placement.

The boat now works. Yeah! Thanks everyone for your input. I did run from my first "mechanic". In southeast Idaho, I have found there are very few mechanics willing to work on older boats. I appreciate the advice that was offered in this forum. Thank you!
