    I bought this from a guy in Quitman, TX. The cowling says GT 150 but from what I read here the cowling and the engine don't match. It is a 6 cylinder with 3 carbs. M/N J150STLCD, not a typo.

    Thanks for all the replies. I bought Pennzoil XLF and mixed my first tank yesterday, We shall see how it works out. I am hoping for a cleaner prop. From recommendation at Bob is the Oil Guy I mixed to 32 to 1 ratio, I used 36 oz to 9 gal of gas. If have any thoughts about the ratio I should use...

    I have been reading about 2 stroke oil until my brain quit working. I have a 1986 GT 150 Johnson outboard engine. I am trying to make it last as long as possible. Would the Quicksilver help me compared to the Pennzoil for $12 a gallon more? Quicksilver or Pennzoil

    I took the engine back to the lake and as it was running I saw many bubbles from the mating area of the lower unit. There was no gasket and when I search the parts catalog I see no gasket.

    As long as you disconnected the battery before changing parts, I would say no.

    L & L Vintage Outboard Parts has been extremely helpful to me. Lance spent quite a bit of time finding parts and educating me. I will report back after I receive the parts and begin installation.
