I have 25hp 3cylinder Johnson long shaft. It use to stay straight when I go. Now the motor goes to the left and boat 2 the right. When I'm trolling.

Ya I have to get one. I tightened up those big nuts on the ends of the big screw that goes across the front . Seems to help. Not %100 but good enough. See what happens Saturday when I go out.

No. That isthe tilt friction. If you tighten that too much the motor wont tilt easily and you will smash the lower unit if you hit an obstruction.

The swivel friction is screw 65 and spring 72 in the diagram below ................ Your owners manual should tell you how to adjust these things

Ok thx I will try and find that . If I can't I will ask around if someone can find that for me . Thank you for the diagram. I appreciate it. No I don't have the owners manual

The bolt broke without hardly any pressure at all. This fourm won't let me show Pictures. U can see the on I boats fourm tho. In the Johnson, evinrude section

Here you are. ( You photo was very large. Some forums can handle large pictures but obviously this one doesn't)

The spring looks Ok but you have sheared the head off the screw. All you have to do is get the remains of the screw out and source a replacement locally.

You should be able to get an owners manual and a service manual from https://outboardbooks.com/

.

I just ordered a manual but it's not one that gets sent too my house. I have no idea how to print it. I haven't even been sent a link to print it . I thought it was going to shipped to my house

Hey vics sorry to bug you. But it's still ok too use it until I get someone to fix it right?.

The link I posted from selffixer is a pdf service manual. You download it to your computer/phone /tablet, once downloaded you can print the entire manual or a section or even one page from Adobe Acrobat . Adobe Acrobat is a free software program that is often preloaded on computers but usually not included on phones/tablets. For phones/tablets you usually need to download Adobe Acrobat from Apple or Google depending upon who made your phone/tablet. Adobe Acrobat is free software, selffixer service manuals are usually $10-$15 USD

So if I get that screw out to put in a new one is anything gunna come apart inside there when the screw comes out. Sorry if these are dumb questions. I just can't afford to take it anywhere

Nothing will come apart. It's just a friction screw. I think I may have an extra one of those that I can send to you if you run out of options. I'm in Toronto.

If I get it out could I not just one at home hardware or something? I was thinking about soaking it with blaster for a few days and then try to get it out with some needle nose vise grips. I just can't believe it broke I hardly even touched it. I've broke one bolt before putting a new license plate on my boat trailer but it was from 94 and in and out of the water and I was cranking on it.
