1984 50hp mercury brown band

Can someone tell me why there is water coming from a small threaded hole to the left of number 1 spark plug.
To the left as in standing from rear of boat looking forward.
It's about 10mm to the left

Sorry guys abit of correction,
It's coming from the cover gasket.
