I seem to remember this pup is 50/1 fuel/oil mixture,is that correct?Wife wants me to take her motor boating so I need to freshen the fuel and tune her.(the motor)

Yes, non oxy fuel only, no ethanol. Your wife might get mad if motor won't run well. Hope you used the correct fuel in 1991.

Yes, stop switch just shorts out the breaker points, one of which is grounded while the other one is open. Switch is supposed to be push in and HOLD to stop motor.

Are you checking continuity with the wires disconnected from the stator plate leads? You can try that and then check for spark. Sometimes the points will get lightly corroded and make a weak spark, particularly if it was stored in a damp area.

I checked continuity at the switch, and then I checked the wires coming from the magneto. Continuity on both. Switch good. I checked spark and I have no spark on one cylinder. Im going to check spark one more time after dark because it is very hard to see in the sunlight. Then I will get to pulling the flywheel I think. We will see, thanks for following along.

OK so here it is. That took longer than expected for two reasons.
1) The continuity was reading through the coils and nothing was wrong. I should have just fired her up like I initially thought.Pretty sure the no spark condition was my daughter not ripping the cord hard enough.
2) I looked at the points and decided to change them. I just could not time it with my meter and I couldnt figure out why the new breaker would not open!WTF? Well the lobe on the breaker was not reaching the cam and was defective! Filed the old set of points and cleaned them with acetone and timed it with my meter. After a lot of turning the motor,it popped and ran very well!
Just need to lake it. One question though. Any reason I shouldnt use my drill to start it instead of the recoil assy? The motor has a lot of compression and Im an old.
