Water tube- powerhead reinstall

I'm reinstalling my Evinrude 15hp powerhead and I can't figure out which hole the water tube into that goes to the water pump. There are 4 holes to choose from. Also what in the official hack to lowering the powerhead without crushing the copper tube and making sure it goes into the correct hole? Any help appreciated.

Hi, welcome. You have lower unit off first, right? Then powerhead is removed from housing okay? Remove tuned exhaust and replace grommet and the water tube which mounts in largest hole. Then reinstall exast tuner/water tube to powerhead. Then carefully guide the powerhead unit with new gasket, back into housing. Tube will go through opening in housing so it will line up correctly with the water pump outlet, which will be installed in next step. You may want to dry fit the lower unit before you install powerhead just to see what opening your tube as well as shift rod, will go through in order to meet the outlet grommet, in the water pump, as well as the lower shift rod coming up out of the lower unit. The shift ride coming out of the lower unit should have the coupling fastened to that lower side then you won't have any problem. Before you put the stainless bolt and lock washer in make sure that the notch is lined up in that little coupling because you will damage the threads otherwise. It's very nice work and good luck with this You have a great motor there.
Best regards, Tim
