I am trying to remove the carburetor from this old outboard, I have removed the choke lever, and I cannot get the carburetor out. It is really close but I do not want to force anything. Any help would be appreciated.

One nut does not have to be removed.-----There is a slot ( hidden ) to help removal.-----I heart you on the frustration.

It hits the bottom of the float housing, arrow indicating where. It is soooo close but again, I do not want to force anything.
Thanks

I have more than one of these and yes they are tricky.-----Once you figure it out you will say ----" easy if I had known that"

Thanks for info, but, I'm about ready to force the dang thing, LOL, it is so close. I've tried about every angle I can, and I don't see anything else I can remove to make it come our. I'm probably within a 16th of inch from getting the darn thing out. I cannot swing up the slotted side very far to help in removal as the bottom keeps hitting where I indicated in prior photo. I'm usually quite mechanical, but this one has me stumped. This forum would not let me send a video.

When I tip it, this is the best I can get out of slotted side. When I try to pull the other side out, the slotted side goes back down.

I have a number of these single cylinder Mercs. Did you remove all of the choke linkage? If not, you need to. it will allow the carb to slide forward enough to rotate and clear the obstacle. Its quite simple once you figure it out. DON'T FORCE ANYTHING, it will come out.
