What's this plug 1996 Volvo 5.0 FourWinns 200dlx?

I just purchased this boat and found a plug not plugged in. The boat starts and runs great so far. While checking it out found this plug not plugged in. It's on the top of the motor

Might be for an Aux Tach connection. Look under the take and verify the color of the wire is Tan or maybe Gray

Looks like a Ford engine see if you can find an OMC/Volvo wiring schematic for that model year.

It is tan.

Tan is water Temp gauge, so guess it's for external gauge by motor if you want to install

So at this point it is for nothing? Seems weird it would be unplugged. So if plugged in it would do nothing?

Don't do anything with it
Many boat/motor manufactures build things that can be easily configured to be installed it multiple different Mod's. Your motor is not installed this way so just forget about it and go have some fun boating
