Suzuki 2.5 DF - no tell tale

I have a rather baffling Tell Tale issue on my Suzuki 2.5 DF - in brief all I get from my tell tale holes is an exhaust blow with specks of water occasionally. I watched this rather excellent video and thought I'd cracked it:

After checking the impeller is pumping ( i placed a drill on the drive rod) and the water riser tube is correctly located to deliver water to the power head I still had no flow. I removed the power head and noted the water delivery pipe correctly located at the top end, delivering cooling water to the head water channel.

The rubber water tube delivery pipe grommet in the video shows a secondary hole which diverts water to a port feeding the tell tale - this should give an instant flow. There is no port and nothing connecting the water delivery or water exhaust system to the tell tale - my tell tale ports open directly into the leg hence the exhaust.

I am baffled at this design or am I missing something.

The impeller must be submerged when testing in a bucket.

I've got a similar issue, the video you referenced above clearly shows a tell tale above the two exhaust ports (they only spit). My new to me motor has no such tell tale. How can that be?

Same issue here, on a 2006 model, different design than the one on the video: also no 2nd hole in the rubber. Changed the impeller with a 6-blade version (4 blade not available anymore i think) but same spitting. Ir runs like a clock though... any confimation that they run without tell tale and just purge through the exhaust?

I think that pre 2011 certainly pre 2008 do not have a tell tail, just some spitting out the pair of exhaust holes
