Engine information:
  • 2017 Yamaha F90LB
  • Model: F90LB
  • Code: 6FP
  • Manufactured: 05/2017
Problem:

I'm trying to locate and test the starter relay/starting circuit relay on my engine, but I can't locate it. Many posts online point to the trim & tilt relays and not the starter relay.

Can someone please:
  1. Where the starter relay is in one of my photos?
  2. Part number?
Thanks! Any photos or screenshots from the service manual would be greatly appreciated.

Are you not seeing the location of the relay in your service manual?
I'm the second owner of a 2017 Yamaha F90LB, and unfortunately the previous owner didn't include the service manual.

I'm trying to diagnose what I believe is a failing starter relay. The engine will occasionally click when I turn the key, then eventually crank and start, so I'm looking into replacing the relay. However, I'm running into some confusion with the Yamaha parts diagrams.

From what I've found:

  • F90LA lists relay assembly 60E-81950-00-00.
  • F90LB lists 63P-81950-00-00, which is labeled as a relay assembly but looks completely different from the F90LA part.
I've attached screenshots comparing the two diagrams.

My questions are:
  1. Are these diagrams and part numbers correct, or is there an error in the parts catalog?
  2. Is 63P-81950-00-00 actually the starter relay on the F90LB, or is it a different relay assembly (such as for the power trim/tilt or another function)?
I'd appreciate any clarification before I order parts. Thanks in advance!

After more research, thanks to your picture, I am thinking I should replace the whole fuse box.

Any thoughts?

63P-81950-00-00 is the trim and tilt relay.

The LA and previous F90 models used a standalone starter relay.

The LB models have the starter relay integrated within the fuse box.
