    1996 maxum 2400SCR. 5.7L V8 runs

Most likely yes, but I live on a lake and if it's not raining I might be boating ;) Take a coffee can, clear container, rags, small gas can and funnel, and maybe another fuel filter Remove the fuel filter (filter should be new) and place coffee can under it to catch the gas if it spills...

    1996 maxum 2400SCR. 5.7L V8 runs

We could get into what to do and try to find the problem, but your comment about not being a mechanic sort of tells me you don't to do it. If that's not correct we can start advising.

    1996 maxum 2400SCR. 5.7L V8 runs

With no gas getting to carb the amount or kind of fuel you have has nothing to do with the current problem. You have something clogged up as in carb, antisiphon valve, fuel filter, collapsed fuel line or a bad fuel pump. My initial thought is the fuel filter or fuel pump

Being a 96 LX means it's a carb motor and has either a 2 or 4 bbl carb, Either a TB4 or TB5 ignition (most likely a TB5), and can have an Alpha or Bravo drive When the motor died did it do it real quick as the key turned it off or spurted?

    Emulsified seawater + diesel = burnt/obstructed valves?

With all the white smoke being unburnt fuel it does have low compression, I just hope it's just the heads. Water getting into the cylinders can break and bend things

Just thought of something, you said EFI and 30 psi then found out you have an MPI. The MPI should have a 43 psi Reg

If you have a good electric pump you don't need the mechanical one.

2002 Volvo TAMD 74P-B-EDC Turbo Boost Pressure

In that case check your pressure sensor. In most all cases the gauge just tells the driver what the pressure is, it does not tell the ECM. The motor will have another sensor connected to the ECM which may be providing incorrect info

    8.2 litre efi mercruiser problems

You kept saying EFI so I thought TBI I didn't need cool fuel either but it was cheaper than Aeromotive, and with fuel return to tank, it was a non-issue. Was also converting from MEFI-2 to MEFI-3 and a remap to give me 530HP The fuel rail was angled cut where the fuel lines went in and...

    8.2 litre efi mercruiser problems

Again mine was a MPI so it had a fuel rail. Connect the pump output to the top port of the rail. The bottom port is after the Reg which returns fuel to the main fuel tank
