2002 BF225A chokes over 4000 rpm after several hrs of running

I'm definitly not the guy to ask or believe about this but it is entirely possible you're on the right track. I have seen a few cases here where the O2 sensor "made the diffeeence". I'm confident Honda had plenty of O2 problems with the early V6 outboards and, I don't know for sure, but I think...

2002 BF225A chokes over 4000 rpm after several hrs of running

I don't think those pumps are made to be taken apart. If it's still good, (you said it was "tested") and you open it up, it might ruin it. But your call.

2002 BF225A chokes over 4000 rpm after several hrs of running

Hutch, I believe that part is the idle electronic air control valve. Item.14 in the link. Often, when the filter screen for that is dirty or the valve itself is pretty gunked up, it can indicate that the throttle body (item 3) is dirty too and might need cleaning. It's best to take it off...

2002 BF225A chokes over 4000 rpm after several hrs of running

Yeah, those pumps, the plunger being cam driven, can leak gas past the plunger piston even when the diaphragm itself is still ok. I've seen a few do that on the twins I've worked on.

2002 BF225A chokes over 4000 rpm after several hrs of running

Good points David. He did initially say that the low pressure fuel pump was tested. Was your pump passing fuel into the oil? Is that how you figured out what was happening with your engine?

2004 Honda 150 vtec VST drain location

Something else I noticed is that there appears to be a drain hole at the bottom of the high pressure pump housing. Item 18, oring, in the first diagram I sent is depicted next to it but, again, no clear explanation as to what it seals and there's no drain screw pictured there. So, I don't know...

2004 Honda 150 vtec VST drain location

Hi Shaun, I've not worked on a 150 but I see there's a drain screw with oring available. Problem is though, it's not clear where it's exact location is in the parts diagram. Item 8 in link...

2002 BF225A chokes over 4000 rpm after several hrs of running

Again, do what you need to do to convert to run it on a portable tank set up. The results will help point you in the right direction. Your recent comment about the issue occuring in a "big swell" still makes me suspicious that it could be fuel tank related. I know that some auto/truck fuel...

2002 BF225A chokes over 4000 rpm after several hrs of running

I like what NSDON suggests. Usually do. Expanding that discussion: Fuel tank pick-up tubes have screens at the bottom because that's where they "suck up" the gas. From the bottom of the tank. If there are "floaties" in the tank, they would not likely get near the tube's intake screen/filter...

Honda BF75A Stern Bracket Blocked by Shift-Shaft Spline

Yeah, bobmech's warning is appropriate. I've seen a few posts about people using too much "oomph" to either remove or install the shaft and, as a result, dislodged the upper circlip and then cry the blues trying to get the gear quadrants lined up and put the clip back on. BUT... ...since it...

2006 Honda BF90 Lower Unit Lubricant

I don't know. I've never used Lucas products in any outboards. But Lucas makes quality lubricants and fuel additives and I have used those in my cars and trucks with no issues. Good luck.

    Codes 23 & 41 BF225

You should be able to use the kill switch to clear the codes by holding the lanyard near the clip and then manipulating the kill switch as described below: Connect the shunting device (technical term for paper clip.) • Turn on the key switch. • Pull the safety switch to off, then push to on...

Inductive Tach Setting for Honda BF25D

This question makes me feel pretty dumb because I think I should know the answer but....nope! All I do know for sure is that 4 stroke engines fire the cylinder every other revolution. So, the tach's "scale" for a 4 stroke engine would have to be ×2 per pulse as compared to a 2 stroke which...

BF 9.9 Dies soon after starting

To Joe... Your problem could be caused by the "electric bystarter" (Service Enrichment valve) aka: auto choke. The auto choke is defaulted to richen the mixture when the engine is cold. If the auto choke gets stuck or doesn't receive voltage after the engine starts, the mixture will not lean...
