    Johnson Outboard Carb Help Wanted

Ok, it is pumping water. Now I am having problems tuning the carb. I got the idle good, but I don't know how to handle the high speed. Here is what is going on: As I slowly open the throttle, it responds in proportion to my throttling until it starts to get above idle. Then it takes off and revs...

I am looking for the gas cap for a 1969 Evinrude Mate 1.5hp outboard. The caps were the same for the 1969-1972 1.5hp and 2hp models, I believe. (reference number 5 on the attached diagram) I have looked EVERYWHERE! They don't seem to make them anymore, so I think my only hope is getting one used...

    Johnson Outboard Carb Help Wanted

I have a 1957 Johnson Seahorse outboard engine, model RD-19. We got it at an auction, and it is in overall real good shape. It looks like it has not been run in many, many, years. I took the carb apart, and it needs a real good cleaning. Here are my questions: What is the black thing on the...

OK, my bad. The concept of automatic mixing sounds real cool to me. I might have to check into it. It would sure beat pre-mixing all the fuel! Anyways, thanks for the clarification.

    Question

I should have said oil pan, that is what I meant. And I have never seen a two stroke with an oil tank.

    Question

A four stroke engine will have an oil reservoir to hold the oil that lubricates the engine. There will be a dipstick, and probably drain plugs to drain the oil and an oil filter. A two stroke won't have any of that, just a gas tank. If you posted a pic, we could give you more certain answers...
