I've taken on a beautiful 1975 15.5' Hourtson Glascraft with its original 1975 Mercury 500 on the back. I've run into 2 problems I am hoping this forum can help address.
1. While dropping the lower unit yesterday, I had 2/3 of a rubber seal fall out from the exhaust cavity. I've tracked the part back down to be, what I believe, Mercury Part# 24929 'U Cup Packing' but cannot understand from the parts diagram where I'd be able to find the remaining 1/3 of the seal to pull out for replacement.
2. Upon inspection of the lower unit, I noticed the Reverse Lockout Cam was a little worse for wear and might need to be replaced. I have attached a photo. I believe the replacement part is Mercury "43308T 1 - Cam", now produced in metal, rather than plastic.
