1977 johnson

hi guys. i got this 1977 40 hp johnson .i am trying to change water pump .bott. bolts out ,i dont see no way to disengage leg fm motor .need your help bad /thanks

I do not believe there was a 40 hp Johnson marketed in 77---------So post the model # or pictures of your motor.-----Exact information gets you exact help !

i was told it was a 40 hp ,previous owner said 1977 will post pics tomorrow

Had a fellow bring a motor to me and said it was a 1979 and he was convinced it was.----------Took one glance at and said ---" not a 79 "------quickly deciphered to model # and it is a 1992.----------Lots of motors out there that are for sale and often are out by 10 years or more ( usually older ) , see it all the time.
