2017 BF60 weak tell tale

I have a somewhat weak stream out pee hole. Both through hose on flush port and running motor.
pressure seems to fluctuate here and ther.
if hook to hose i get no leaking at flush port.
if run engine
i get water leaking at flush port.
why would water be coming out at flush mount. Seems no water should be coming in that direction.

Just taking some guesses. I've never worked on a BF60.

If water is pushing.out of the flush port when the engine is running, I would suspect the flush valve is either coated with deposits, misaligned or the spring is bad. See items 11, 12 13, 14 in link below.




Beyond that, weak flow always points to waterpump and you made no mention of it. When was the pump last serviced/replaced?
If you don't know, then it's probably time to take a look at it.

And...if you're going to the trouble of going in there...it usually makes the most sense to just replace it with a new, complete kit which is, yes, more $$ than just the impeller but ensures a reliable, long lasting repair. Often not the case when matching a new impeller with worn components. Item 1 in link below.


If you've never done this type of work before, PLEASE buy a shop manual or do some studying to prepare. Not trying to insult you. Just pointing out that if this chore goes "sideways", it's discouraging and lots of hassle to do it over again. Not to mention the possible expense of buying parts twice or overheating your very expensive outboard.

Not sure about Honda outboards but some manufacturers clearly state in the owners manual that you do not run the engine when using a flush port. Barrel filled with water or “ear muffs” over the intake ports. The muffs are hooked up to a garden hose.

Introducing water to the flush port on the engine, the water has no way to reach the water pump. The water is used to lubricate the impeller.

I may have misinterpreted your post, if so please ignore.
