6.0 Crusader Engine Stalls

The 4 C’s

New member
Hi I’m new to the forum. I am having a problem with my starboard engine. It’s a 2005 fuel injected 6.0 Crusader. When I put the boat in gear and run at idle speed out of the marina the engine will shut down but I’m able to start it back up. This happens sporadically. Sometimes I have no problem and other times it my stall once or a couple of times. Once I leave the marina and increase the rpm’s I’ve never had a problem. I could on the hook all day and start the engines, run at idle speed and again I don’t have a problem.
I have replaced the following:
1) Spark plugs and wires
2) Throttle positioning sensor
3) Idle air control valve
4) Temperature sensors

I also checked the pressure on the fuel rail.

If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate the help.

Thanks

I would suggest stop throwing part at the problem and do the diagnostic steps.

What were the fuel pressure readings?

Do you have access to a scan tool?

Does the boat have separate tanks for each engine?

Thanks for getting back to me.
1) The pressure reading is 57psi at the dock and under load.
2) I did hook up a diacom software to the computer. I will try and find the readings and post them.
3) The engines have separate gas tanks.

I don’t have a carb cap. It is fuel injected.

Lou - the 6.0's have a distributor-less ignition...ECU drives each coil individually.

The intermittent problems are usually a challenge to properly diagnose...You didn't happen to have the fuel pressure gauge connected when the engine died?

Any idea of the maintenance history on the engines?

I don’t remember if the engine died when it was hooked up. I don’t think it did.
It was last season when I hooked it up.
I’ve been chasing this problem for the last couple of years.
I will have to go back and look at the history. I bought the boat about 4 years ago.

Its most likely an ignition problem or a fuel delivery problem and you need to identify where the issue is...
