92' 7.4L 454 starter noise issues.

At first I thought my starter was bad. I replaced it. What a crap job. Anyway, same issue. When cranking the engine it turns over, then there is a clanking, screech clunk sound. I let it rest. Try again. It turns over, then clank, screech. Maybe it's the flywheel gear, or alignment to the outdrive? The 454 mercruser is mated to a bravo 3 outdrive. Tried to attach a video with sound. File too large...
 
Remove the drive and try
Do either remove the belt turning the raw water pump or attach a hose to the input hose
 
Are you saying the engine fires up and these noises happen? Do they stop while running? Do you feel anything or is it just noise?

You could just have noisy pulleys. Mine will do this after sitting for a little while. It goes away once then engine has stayed on for a little while.
 
I discovered a water leak in the manifold system. All manifolds and risers replaced. Engine runs at idle ok after warm up but backfires and runs rough when throttling. Timings ok. New rotor, plug wires, cap, plugs. Tested with a portable 93 clear gas tank. No change. Must be the carburetor.
