Forgive me if this is in the wrong subforum.
My dpg drive has approx 900 hours on it and on my most recent trip I started to hear my drive droning. I got home and pulled the drain plug to see excessive shavings on what had only 15-20 hours on the oil change. I’ve personally put approx 150 hours on the drive since owning it and have changed the oil three times in 2 years. Once it had a bit of water in the drive and that was my fault as I didn’t install a new o ring for the dip stick. I’ve been using redline NS 75/140 as the Volvo stuff is hard to find.
At any rate, I pulled the shift shoe and assembly off to take a look at the upper gears. There is some wear and wanted to get some opinions- should I flush it well, run genuine oil with Lucas additive/stabilizer to help the oil climb and see how the oil looks after one trip? Or should I tear it apart and examine? Or are these gears destined for the trash? Thanks for your help.
