Fuel Pressure Sensor = Regulator? (part: 3854517)

Working with my boat mechanic/buddy who is not in my area. Chasing down a rough idle on my 1997 7.4GiPLKDCE and a few other bugs. he called me back last night and said remembered having to change out the "fuel pressure regulator" on another similar Volvo years ago but of course I couldn't find a "fuel pressure regulator" in the parts diagram. Best I can tell he might be talking about what Volvo calls the Pressure Switch in their fuel diagram, part as listed in title. Looks to be under the intake manifold probably attached to the fuel rail.

Having trouble finding a photo/image of the switch and sourcing parts even bad china or aftermarket equivalent at the moment. Lots of sites show the $400 OEM but then when I click on a few they said sold out as we tend to see with these older fuel injection systems.

1. Anyone got an image so I don't have to pull part the top end this weekend?
2. are sensor and regulator synonymous in this case or is there a regulator somewhere else I'm missing?

Yes, number 4 is the regulator...While it says sensor there, some other sites do say regulator. To help ease the mind, item number 63 is the bolt that says flange screw | pressure regulator to fuel rail and item 50 says fuel pipe | fuel regulator to reservoir

Before throwing $ at it, testing the fuel pressure would be the better idea... To test see items number 64, 65 / 73, valve | fitting, hp fuel pump to fuel line

And # 2 and 19 valve | reservoir assy near 26.

Thanks. The plan is to get a dial gauge on it this week but I was just wanting to confirm the location incase I have to buy. Seems these are out of stock items and expensive and wondering if alternatives can be found but it's unique in how it's had piped into the pump assembly.

Although I did know the valve on the rail I didn't know the one on top of the reservoir. Any idea what values I should be looking for at bolt locations at idle and load?

It's almost guaranteed to be the same FPR for any 1997 GM with the 7.4 engine. It's not like those are made specific for boats.

You would think but it's not...which was the frustaing part. Doesn't look like the ones I see on 98% of all other VP and Mercruiser setups.

Good news is we have rules it out as the issue. With the new HFP it's 40lbs on the nose. Still got same issue with idle though.
