Hey forum members, I am new to this forum, looking for some hellp
the issue is that the 5 litre volvo (chev) engine starts and runs well at idle, but will not rev past 2000 RPM, it bogs down, loses power, and dies.
Things we have checked:
Compression is good
Fuel system has been flushed / cleaned, fuel filter replaced, injectors have been removed and tested and cleaned
Fuel pressure is good at 55 psi at the injectors
We have checked various relays and wiring, no issue
We had a spare ignition module, so we tried changing that, no luck
Ignition timing is good at 8 degrees at idle
Throttle position sensor tested well with an ohm/resistance meter
Any suggestions on what to try next? We are planning to try to get a marine diagnostic scanner, but we dont have one (and rhey are expensive…Are diagnostic scanners available for rent? (We are in the Mobile, Al area))
We keep going back to the throttle position sensor as being the culprit, but it tested well.
We have tried to troubleshoot the basics, and don’t want to throw parts at it, but not sure what to do next. Any insights welcome.
