I'm not quite sure how to properly set the shift rod clamp height on my 2 stroke Mariner 8hp 8M 6G1 S/N 030340. I've tightened the clamp a few times and not quite got the shift positions right. It's a tight spot to get a wrench in, and a pain to work with both the clamp bolt and lock nut as well as keeping the reverse lock lever in position.
I'm guessing there's a proper way to get that shift lever set at the right height, and instead of fiddling at best guesses as I have been -- can anyone give me the correct procedure. Greatly appreciated if you can!
