I have a 1969 55 hp lower unit on my 1970 60hp esl-d.After blowing up the stock hydroelectric lower unit I found a lower unit off the 1969 55 hp.The propshaft seems to be a bit larger were the back of the prop seats on the shaft.I have a new bearing carrier with new seals and bearings in it witch fits the old propshaft off the 1970 60hp.This bearing carrier does not fit over the 1969 55 hp propshaft do to the larger shaft size on the rear bearing.Everything else looks the same the overall lenth is the same. The clutch shift dog allso shows to be different on how it fits over the shaft splines. But it works the same as the older 1969.The gears mate up the same on the clutch dog.Has anyone out there ran across this before? And can I simply change over the propshaft in the 1969 to the 1970 propshaft I allmost feel I am creating a frankinstine lower unit but if it will work then i am game.feedback needed. thank you Tony
