Identifying my 8hp Mariner

I have a 8hp Mariner I was told was a 1980 motor. The name plate reads 8M 6G1 S 023056

1985 short shaft Yamaha built Mariner.

My Yamaha data indicates it was a 1986 model year motor. Would be equivalent to a Yamaha USA model 8SJ.

If new parts are needed, and Mariner branded parts are not available, you might be able to obtain them from a Yamaha dealer.

The shaft is 18 inches. The motor name plate does say Yamaha built the motor. Just was trying to nail down what year.
