Working on this 25hp triple (1996). Actually, really no longer working on it because it’s now running fine.
Compression is 110/110/115 which I find to be on the low side of acceptable. There are signs the engine did overheat previously: whiteness / paint chipping at seam of head and block. If this was a traditional set up with a head gasket I would just pull the head without thinking twice and replace gasket resurface head. With this triple the configuration is different: no head gasket just three o-rings. Anyone have an idea of whether it’s still worth popping the head off to get a few more psi of compression?
