Hi Guys:
I have a 1970 60 ESLD. The top crank case bearing is starting to make some noise. I thought it may have been an unbalanced flywheel, but the Marina said it was a top crank bearing going. I'll need to open the motor to replace a $70 part.
My question is: While I have it split, should I do a full check on the gutts? It has good compression. One Marina said 125 on all three holes and another Marina said 130 on all three. Either way I think its ok. Should the phase "If it is not broken don't fix it" apply here? or should I hone out the hole and put new rings in her? What else should I change out if I am this deep. Again the motor runs good except for the bearing. Any input?
Thanks,
