ok, yesterday i got this 16 once bottle of oil it is evinrude johnson xd50 synthetic blend. there is no mix ratio on the bottle. i am running a 50 -1 ratio.the gas tank in the boat holds 6.6 gallons . my qustion is how many gallons to the 16 onces will give me the 50- 1 ratio mix.thank you tony

Tony...it is 50 parts gas to one part oil.

So, if you have 16oz oil, 50 x 16 = 800 oz of gas. How many gallons is 800 oz? 800 / 128 = 6.25 gallons.

(But the easy way is remember 6 gals per pint of oil.)

Let's do it again with different numbers:

You have a 50 gallon tank, you fill it with 40 gallons of gas, how much oil?

40 gallons * 128 oz per gallon = 5120 oz of gas. Now you want it to be 50 to 1 ratio.

So, 5120/50 = 102 oz of oil or 102 oz / 128 oz per gal. = .8 gal. Just over three quarts.

thanks for the break down guyies.i found it odd not to have any info on the bottle to figure the ratio.butt the 6.25 is the key number i needed.i think i will right down the formular to this as i am half brain dead and next time in the case of not being sure i will have the info needed vs cooking my johnson off to the lake i go thank you tony
