Need advice

I’ve had a couple of boat and did minor work on them myself when needed. Recently retired and need something to to do besides honey-dos lol. I’d lii if le to find a used outboard under 100 hp that at least has compression for a project. What brand, model or other specs would you recommend and what I need to stay away from. I am mechanical and have most tools I might need. Thank you!! This is also my first post I just registered a few days ago.

the bigger question is what can you get parts for and at what price...?

other items to ponder:

do you want hand carried outboards or bolt on only ones?

self contained or remote controlled?

do you want to sell the end product or make use of it?

Also, you need to know your budget because there are now very different motors up to 100 horsepower and it will all depend on the money you are willing to invest. I think in your situation, you can try using other online resources to find the right motor for you.
