I have a "91" Celebrity 180 with a 3.0L Mericruser inboard motor. We were out on the water today and everything was fine, we cruised for a while then all of a sudden it seemed like it ran out of gas. So i stopped to check what was going on. At idle it seemed to be fine, even held it at 4000 rpms and no issues, so we go to take off again and get to full throttle and bam starts wanting to cut off. It would Run fine at about 10mph (23-2500 rpms) for a few minutes then started doing the same thing. After sitting for a few minutes it would do fine but act up again after a couple of minutes. Any Idea what could be going wrong? Im thinking fuel pump? Carb is fairly new and clean, new fuel filters on pump and carb.

could be the fuel pump...could also be the vent system (to the fuel tank) is clogged or there is crud in the tank collecting on the screen of the pickup (dip) tube...

I have a friend, when he had such a problem with his motor, he had it completely rebuilt because in addition to clogging the filter, the gaskets in the motor broke and had to disassemble and reassemble everything. It is best to contact a specialist if you do not want to spend a lot of time on repairs - after all, in addition to time will take a lot of money.
