retainer ring on distibuter.

on my timer base plate there is a plastic retainer ring. it was full of slug and dirt i cleaned it up. were it slips over and seats into the timer base should i use a molly greese or is this a dry fit no lube called for?it is a 60esld 1970.thank you

The only thing you need on it is TCW 3 oil. No grease. A light coating of molly lube is okay for the center bushing.

That ring is exposed to the elements. As such, grease collects dirt, dirt results in binding, use oil only.
