I’m seeing lots of spam and seeing everyone on this forum is seeing it too and we have all reported it. Hopefully it gets cleared out, it’s also on the other forums, like Mercury, so I assume after the holidays it will be fixed. Hopefully.

More spam this morning.

I’ve been getting spam since 1974- but then it was mail. I worked in a bank and was the person who opened the mail, I got The Nigerian Scam. It was in a plain white envelope, the address and the letter inside were all typed by hand on a typewriter. At this time we had no telexes, fax machines, email, or computers, or calculators for that matter. As technology progressed, I kept seeing The Nigerian Scam. The words were almost identical to the mailed letter I opened in 1974.

Scams are profitable or they wouldn’t keep coming. And they are everywhere.

Be careful out there.
 
Yeah, reported spam this am too. Same kind of crap.
Looks like "organized crime" to me.

My identity was "taken" in 1978.
I found out when I got injured, couldn't work and needed to file for California State Disability Insurance.
They told me "you already used up all of your benefits on your previous claim"
I had never filed a claim before!
What ensued involved me going from the State agency to the Social Security offices and back again several times. I was young, had no savings and almost lost my apartment because someone else was using my SSN. I was broke and couldn't pay the rent or buy food while I was trying to get them to believe me.
Very eye opening experience!

And yes, the "postal spam" plagues us all to this day!
 
On iBoats we changed that all new members have to answer 2 questions and be approved by a Mod. After doing this it stops all kinds of bad stuff

No, only time the questions are asked is when first signing up. We can usually pick the ones out that are spammers by their email address or how questions are asked. Other things like they will put what we are seeing just signing on. We get them before they make first post 90% of the time
 
Well, this last episode is one of the worst I've seen and is criminal in nature in my opinion.

So, I'm sure changes to try and contain it are coming.
