I’m have a rather old Fjord Weekender 21, it has a 318 Chysler V8 and Volvo Penta 270 transom shield with renoved 270 upper housing and DP 290 lower part. That setup has worked fine now for several years.
The current shield seems to have a lot of tight glue with its installation…
I had an accident with the boat, where the shields lower tabs got broken from both side.
As a result of that, the reverse latch lock does not work, as there is not any bolt for the latch to attach to.
I could get a used 280 transom shield with a reasonable price, but the existing shield seems to be attached with a glue in my boats transom.
Probably my options are to:
a) swap a new transom shield
b) try to install / drill a new bolt into my existing shields lower part with some setup that it can hold ( drill a new hole in shield near transom with attaching new tabs to it and put / drill the new bolt at the end of new tabs)
My question is that is the 280 transom shield fully similar to 270 shield ?
E.g., from bolt holes view.
So, could I buy that 280 shield and it’s installation is a snap?
I couldn’t attach a pic, as it seemed to be too big.
