Volvo AQ145B Heat exchanger core removal?

Greetings all,

I'm in that overheating circle run around syndrome where since nothing else has worked it must be the heat exchanger core needing to be acid washed. MY first question is does the exhaust manifold need to removed in order to get the core out of the cylinder? Also the center bolt doesn't seem to want to thread back down into anything. It came out easily with a socket, but I can't get threads to bite putting it back together. I have twins of these engines, one came apart and went back together no problem, but the other one has the center bolt issue. And to be clear, I haven't removed the cores yet (only taken apart) on either because not enough clearance to the exhaust manifold.

Thanks to all in advance,
Greg A

And the answer... NO, you do not need to remove the exhaust manifold. Once you loosen the piping connections and the oil cooler nut (which I have been calling the heat exchanger core), the parts came apart enough to manipulate and remove the oil cooler assembly. The problem now is after acid washing an almost totally blocked (75%) oil cooler core and now it's completely opened it up, I put everything back together, fire it up and we are still over heating.
