what other motors will my jet fit on

The early (pre 89) triples use the same driveshaft, and the adapter plate (under the power head) interchanges with the 50. That will give you 70 hp and, from my experiences with these triples, they make a LOT more power.

Jeff, I believe that if the (motor) is a "50 Jet" it would already have the 70 horse powerhead (to compensate for the difference between prop and jet).

The later 65 jets shared the 90 powerhead and the 85 jets used the 115 (jets are super "inefficient compared to a prop - you use one for super shallow running or safety (could you imagine how many riders would get chewed up on jet-ski's if they had props) or simply the "cool factor" - if you want the most power for your horsepower, don't run a jet).

So may already be at the "max".

Not familiar with "what else" the jet unit may fit onto without modification, but kinda think it's maxed out already.

Understand. Was thinking his 50 hp Jet was a 44 cuber. The larger, later triples use a different driveshaft and bolt pattern.

My motor is a 50 so they call it 50/30 i have 2 run a jet were I live a prop won't work unless every shallow u want 2 get out and drag the boat through, I c a lot of older merc 70 horses 4 sale pretty cheap was just wondering if I bought 1 if my jet would fit on them

So you have a 50 horse powerhead with a jet unit that produces the (equivalent thrust) of a 30 horse prop job.

If you could get a 70 horse powerhead to mate up with your lower unit you could increase your (effective) horsepower at the jet (prop) to 40-some horses.

I don't believe there is an exact calculation that will convert thrust to horsepower because one is measured in pounds of force (thrust) and the other measures distance over a fixed time period, with the other variables considered (horsepower).

In any event I am not personally aware of what powerhead "greater than 50" in your model year class might bolt up to your lower unit - I have some experience with "franken-outboards" but only in the 25 horse and below class.
