There are a few engine serial number charts found in certain places of say either online, forum members place of work or residence from past marine training service literature and such ‘that allows either everyone or a multiple of dedicated members such as racer one plus a good handful of others that tend to hangout either here on marine engine.com or a few other boating forum websites such as iboats forums for example, that are pretty much able to determine what year an engine is with basic info given such as serial number, engine horsepower, color of decals, what parts and numbers are on the engine or carburetor ‘enough that some are able to do it in their sleep especially racer one.How do you tell it was marketed in 1985? I’m dumb when it comes to outboard motors lol

For me, I tend to rely on either a few computers look up areas or a preferred chart depending on situations and in looking up the/your serial number coincides with Racerones info in which your serial number brings up the/your model number to be 1050625 which again makes the engine year to be 1985, 50HP, [ELPT].
