Motor appears to slip out of gear upon acceleration

my motor appears to be slipping out of gear upon acceleration and gets very very loud and high in RPMs. Was using it all week perfectly fine no problem. The motor starts up and runs fine. It’s just now when I wanna accelerate it’s slipping out of gear or something in the boat slows down while the engine is on getting louder.
I have a 1969 Evinrude sportwin 9.5

Agreed try another prop first.-----I know they are big $$$-----If that is not the fix then drain the gear oil.----There could be an issue with bushing above the pinion gear.

Easy prop hub test, costs nothing. But first, check the shear (drive) pin. Then proceed with hub test Make a mark on the prop nut, or just use the cotter pin as a reference. Make another mark on the propeller, aligned with the first one. Run motor till suspected slippage occurs. Stop motor and check the marks, If no longer aligned, the hub slipped.

Can this prop even be spun? as it uses a shear pin drive in the motor. I tried another test which involves me turning the prop to the right as if you were to turn the motor over and the pin wheel moved fine. Which leaves me to believe maybe this prop cant even be spun. When i look at other props i see a completely different prop hub then what got. I left a google drive link with photos wouldn't let me upload any

Folks here with 50 years experience have suggested rubber hub is slipping )---A wise man would investigate.----Or maybe a short motor on a long transom?----We can not see / hear / or touch your motor.----The work is up to you ---Sorry to be blunt here.

Of course I've been investigating i dont even understand where your even coming from here. I may not know much abt these motors as why im coming here for advice.
And yes thats what i thought was the rubber slipping or worn but if you look at the photos i left it looks as if there is no prop hub or rubber fitting.

Looks to me that the hub has spun especially on the first image. Can see the build up of something and again one the second image.

Are you as strong as almost 10 horses? That prop must hold back 10 horses. What makes you think you can do that with your two hands? Yes it does have a rubber cushion hum between the brass hub and aluminum prop body. Send it to me and I can cut it in half to prove it.

Thats funny someone else recommended me to test it like that lol. So is there any way i can get a new hub for these props or should i just buy a new one for 130 bucks

???----Was lower unit off for water pump work?----Does motor jerk as if you have hit a log?-----Agreed try another prop.-----Shift rod height checked ?-----Did this problem show up suddenly?-----Remember , no one can see or hear your motor.

it ssarted after shift cable change at low speed it jumps in and out it has about 3inch of movement on prop when turn by hand both fow and reversebut then you start turning engine either way samehow do you disconnect shift rod to remove lower unit dosent make noise or is ruff when you turn it

Post #19 is all one sentence.----Makes no sense to me.-----Explain it it some detail.---Check shift cable adjustment.--Remove lower unit.-----Check shift rod height.----Drain gear oil.-----Look for metal bits in it.----Can't see your motor, just explaining how I would go about trouble shooting a simple issue.
