I have a 97 Johnson 40 hp
Keeps burning power packs up ! Will run till starts warming up and then power pack goes out ! Have installed three now and same thing run for a few and go out !! Please help

Perhaps 12 volts ( or less ) is finding it's way the stop circuit.----The powerpack does not like battery voltage.

Meaning sir ??
Its possible your rectifier is bad. Read through the CDI Electronics Troubleshooting Guide and I believe your engine is covered starting on page 41.

Do you have a tach on the boat? If so, is it working and reading properly? If it is not, that is a common sign you have a problem with the rectifier. However, be sure to take the troubleshooting steps in the CDI guide and be certain before loading up the parts cannon.

Thank you sir I will definitely check that and my tach has been reading wrong especially when it’s first cranked it will max out or that’s what it shows but usually after you stop and start it back it reads correctly

Either voltage feedback on keyswitch to pack or a coil is bad causing a inductive kickback into pack damaging capacitor
