1987 15hp Evinrude outboard

Just purchased a 1987 15hp outboard. This is my first boat motor and am looking for some good resources on the proper use and maintenance of this motor.

I have been looking on YouTube but it is just people starting the motors and really nothing more.

One thing I noticed, there are a few different angles you can set the motor at using a push through pin, is this to be set at a certain angle depending on the boat it is being used in? Thanks!

You adjust that according to how the boat behaves.-----If bow is bouncing at full speed, you move that pin closer to the transom.----I say you MUST install a new water pump impeller , like yesterday.

Impeller was replaced and it was serviced before I purchased it. This was done in early spring.

Also, gentleman said to run it at 50:1 instead of the original 100:1. What are your thoughts?

The 100:1 was a blunder on part of the factory.-----Run at 50:1 for long engine life.
