Water Pump question

I have a 1998 70HP Yamaha. I was testing the motor with muffs and noticed a steady stream of water coming out of the front of the lower unit. I don’t ever remember seeing this before is this normal? See attached

I also have another question and thank you for taking the time. All three wires coming from the motor to the 700 series control are connected but there are 4 additional wires coming from the controls that are not. I’m wondering what they are for? They would be black, white and double yellow. The attached ones are yellow, green and black
