    Thank you so much for thoughtful advice. This w end i will get to boat (in an insulated pole barn, no freeze). Interesting, in the ONC forum, some think ae shift are pretty good. i.e. use a screen door spring to drop rpm fast. Will get info on repairs, etc.. Really dont want a black hole...

    New and unsure @ this. So far thanks for advice. 1970 Carver w twin buick v 6 and omc electric shifts.

    Here's what i have. Carver 31 ft. Wood lapstrake cruiser. 3 problem areas w wood. Easy fix. Hull in 95% good shape. Grunt work ok. Paint, Varnish needed. Big concern. OMC o drives. Have repair history, taken care of. I have new impellers, housing, etc.. Type c oil too. Should i go ahead and...

    I,ve restored 3 wooden boats, hull good,controls too. Boat used in Northern Mich.. Short season. Trailer is great. #18,000 , triple axle, repacked bearings. Have receipts on most work on o drives. One problem, i do not have unlimited funds. Am i crazy to think that i have parts for a long time...
